In the afternoon we travel to meet a local farmer for a tour of their small farm. They will teach us how to process coffee the traditional way and we will see first hand what it is like to be a farmer in Guatemala. This farmer is a part of a local cooperative non-profit that works with small farmers to get the best price and open markets for them worldwide in order to compete with the bigger farms. They will tell us about the coffee business here in Guatemala.
After breakfast we will drive 1 hour and 30 minutes to the ruined Mayan city of Iximche. Our guide will take us on a tour of this incredible site and teach us about how life was here for the Mayan families that lived here.
Today we will travel to Pacaya for a 3 hour morning hike of this active volcano. After the hike we will visit the local thermal pools and do the circuit.
